The Gâvres Peninsula, which is separated from the mainland by a strip of moorland 9km long, is surrounded by the Lorient roads to the north, the island of Groix to the west, Quiberon and the island of Belle-île to the south and the little sea of Gâvres to the east. It is a wonderful natural reserve for wildlife.

Tiny coves, beautiful beaches, harbours and cliffs make up the coastline of the Gâvres peninsula. Reminders of the fishing activity, and relics of its history, are to be seen in its three harbours and breakwater. The largest of its three beaches is all of 7 km long. As for the coves and wild coastlines, their silhouettes, victim of the ocean's whims, are changing constantly.
